Dear Members,

Here we are simply going to review some house rules. We want this to be a pleasant experience for everyone. The goal is to have fun, grow in Rp and writing ability, and create a pleasant and exciting forum. To do that, we need a standard of behavior generally expected among all of us to keep things in line. Everyone know what to expect and what is expected of them. Here below I am outlining the offenses, their levels, the corresponding punishments, and the process we will use to execute thus. We hope to never, or rarely enforce such rules, but they are necessary for the integrity of the forum and to keep things running smoothly.
Please ask staff about these prohibitions if you have any questions.

Thank you for your compliance,

Eversoris

OFFENSES

LEVEL ONE:

  • Harming the Site/Threatening to Harm Site - - We don't play that. No hacking our site in any way shape or form. Not even to joke around. This includes the following
    -Deleting someone else's post(s)
    - Hacking the site and placing images anywhere.
    - Spamming in any way, shape or form.
-Threatening to harm the site in any way.
    -Deleting Posts or Systems
-Causing Mass Disruptions with intent to harm the Site.

  • Spamming - Spamming the site in any way for a malicious reason will not be dismissed. Don't do it. Not for advertising, not for a joke, not for anything. It is a huge mess staff has to clean up; don't play with us.
  • Circumventing Rules or Breaking Rules - Coming back from bans unpermitted, breaking rules intentionally, abusing position etc.

LEVEL TWO:

  • God Modding - No God Modding. "God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try. This is going to be hard to do considering there are stats in our system and ways to definitely tell if you were fast enough to dodge that kunai, durable enough to survive that punch, or strong enough to break that object etc.

-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission. This should never happen. The method to try and harm someone is to go through the following process:

    1. Call a hit. You call a hit after the following happens:You write having attacked/done something to someone; they respond in a post; you read the post and determine they were not able to dodge your blow. You may want to write OOC a description of how they were hit, and why they were not able to dodge etc. As evidence. When calling a hit you are technically opening a small case. This, of course, only need take place if they disagree with the called hit. If they, in integrity, agree and confirm (preferably in a OOC post in the topic) then you two may proceed.
    2. If/when the person and you disagree, you ask for a Battle Mod to confirm the blow. This means you contact a mod (the battle mod who makes rulings on battles; or another mod if he is not there), and then you wait for his ruling. If he rules that the blow landed, and how, he will confirm it via post, and the battle will resume.
    3. The person who landed the blow then may decide, and must do it according to the actual power of the technique and stamina of opponent etc. (include relative factors) how much damage the blow did. The battle resumes.

    4. -It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
There should not be any magical dodges etc. We have stats. Yes much will have to be Rpd, and everything is not a game of stats. There is much that goes into it; and integrity as well as deductive reasoning will be your best friends in determining things in battle. However, we do have a structure to at least base off of. If someone is three times as fast as you and attacks you from five feet away -  you are not dodging that. Period. This is not the matrix. You are either fast enough; or not. Strong enough; or not.

-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as
Legolas, then you cannot have Legolas say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission.

The absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they’re not, just to make their own character seem superior. They make others seem weak, screaming for help, when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. This is called power-play. It’s a strain of God-Modding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot. It is recommended you don't ascribe false facts to other characters. You may write about your characters perception of this person, but that does not mean they are factually what you say they are. The idea with Rp is that you write for yourself; not someone else. To make the world more realistic, it is important that you take heed and give "credit where credit is due" to other characters. Don't try and manipulate their posts to say what they have or do not have when you cannot possibly know. If your char has a negative or disrespectful view, fine; but don't ever assume your subjective view is reality...

This is a prime example of God Modding:

      Player A: Punches Player B
Player B: Dodges attack, grabs Player A and throws him. Player A flies at Player B, who warps behind him and slashes Player A in the back.

Things in battle need to be done at a step by step process; not three steps at a time where you decide moves your opponent makes. This is like chess; you only move the pieces on your side of the board, and must wait for the other person to move theirs to know exactly how to respond. Prediction can only go so far...

  • Meta-Gaming - Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed rule-set, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game.
Remember that your character does not, nor cannot, know as much as you know. He does not know everything about every clan; he has no access to naruto.wikia.com like you do. Here are some examples of things that your character might not know:

-He does not know every secret of the Sharingan, nor even all that it does. He MAY have heard of it (check your clan history to see which clans your clan has faced etc.) or he may not have. He has mainly only encountered those of his own race, and his main enemies. This varies of course, but you get the point.

-He also does not know everything about every territory. He will need a map to find certain things, and not know about other lands as well as his own. Being on foreign soil is a disadvantage; rp like it. Shinobi in real-time have to deal with limits in knowledge; which is the scariest thing in the shinobi world, and a major factor.

    - Keep in mind that you do not know the techniques of all your opponents;ESPECIALLY CUSTOM. There is no way for you to have seen them. You will not already be experienced fighting every style or already knowing every ability of a different clan. Use information your character has, not outside OOC information. Your char must have a history of war and fighting certain clans etc. to have degrees of knowledge, and the most hidden techniques are the ones least understood as they are rarely see and only mentioned about in terms of fables and myths/legends.
Unless they are your rivals, and your clan has historically fought them, it is unlikely you will understand their battle strategy or their KKG. You may hear through current events, messengers, spies, etc. But that is not information you will innately know about every clan.
Sure, the more famous clans will have more known about them, as well as their leaders; but keep the idea in mind that your char cannot know certain things; so don't Rp like it.

  • Disrespect of Staff - Lets be clear. We are here to make sure your rp experience is the most enjoyable possible, and that common rules are enforced from time to time. The act, more often however, as like a police. We get it. No one likes the police. But we all admit they are necessary and deserve a certain degree of respect for their service.
Please treat the mods the same. A few tips for dealing with mods:
-Be polite in asking for things; you are more likely to get them. Manners go a long way.
-Don't take their decisions personally. They are under high accountability and would not ever judge partially or flimsily. Do not disrespect them if you disagree with a judgement.
-Don't argue with mods in a way that is bratty or hyper emotional. You will never get your way by doing that.

That being said, respect mods and Admins please. There is not superiority, no hierarchy; lets just all treat each other with mutual respect. Given that they spend time just to check your stuff, just to analyze your creations, just to give you tips etc. please be courteous to the mods. They don't HAVE to do what they do.
Disrespecting a mod can look like the following:
-Arguing with them in an overly-aggressive manner over a ruling.
-Personally insulting them in chat or elsewhere OOC.
-Spreading lies about them to other members/gossip (won't be tolerated).
-Going against what they say, or against their ruling.
-Harassing them after a ruling has been made.

If a mod makes a ruling, that is the ruling. In the vast majority of cases, it will be fair and quite appropriate, If you feel that they have failed to make the best judgement (which will rarely happen) you can visit our policies on taking up cases and getting second opinions on things. We are not instituting martial law, but respect for the opinions of mods needs to be had by all members so that we can exist in an orderly community. Mods are more than happy to work with you or explain their decisions; but speak and treat them with respect -  and I will make sure they do the same for you.

LEVEL THREE:

  • Disrespecting Members - Again, common courtesy/sense everyone. Don't disrespect people in an overly-offensive way. We get that there will be jesting, joking and what not. That is all fine. But do not let it get personal. And if it gets personal, handle it on the battlefield, not the chat box, or OOC forums etc. Lets be adults.
If you have a problem with someone, it would be best to not speak with them; or, better yet, punish them IC. It will make for an interesting fight if two people don't like each other. We love drama here. But OOC, keep it professional please. If you have a serious issue with someone, that needs legal action, speak to a Mod IN PRIVATE.
Do not berate people on chat to other people. That is disrespectful and quite childish.

Generally speaking, just treat people with a moderate level of respect, and we should all be fine. And if the issues you have can't be solved by normal means; if you just hate each other beyond reconciliation - than we recommend you just kill each other......

    P.S. Do It IC.
